One of the many different support services that we are able to provide to NDIS participants and their families is helping them to achieve their goals with regard to accommodation. People with a disability can often find a variety of barriers in their way when it comes to housing, but our support workers can provide you with personalised support in all areas connected to accommodation.
This can include helping you to identify an appropriate housing solution, or to find alternative housing if your current arrangements no longer meet your needs. We can also help you resolve any issues or difficulties you may be having with a current or prospective housing provider.
As leading in home care Brisbane providers, we have extensive experience in delivering accommodation and tenancy support services for clients of all ages. We have a team of specialist support workers who provide one-to-one support to assist you, both in terms of liaising with outside agencies on your behalf, but also in developing your capacity so that you are better equipped to understand the different sorts of accommodation options open to you.
At all times, our services are centred around meeting your individual needs and supporting you so that you are able to live as independent a life as possible. We will help you to clarify your goals in terms of the type and location of accommodation that is right for you, and then in finding appropriate housing that suits your needs.
We can also liaise with providers (both public and private) on your behalf not only to lodge a rental application, but also to identify in advance potential risks to your being able to maintain a tenancy, and then developing and implementing appropriate strategies to counter these.
Our services also extend to supporting NDIS participants to maintain their tenancy once they have found suitable accommodation and taken up residence.
For instance, we help clients to develop skills and capacity in a range of areas connected to running a household, including managing a budget, paying bills, connecting with utilities providers, and purchasing household appliances and other essentials, if necessary.
In this way, NDIS participants can have greater capacity and confidence at being able to maintain a tenancy, and continuing to live independently for as long as possible.
We can also provide a range of short term (STA), holiday and respite accommodation options.
STA will generally be provided in a shared group residence, with participants being provided with the highest levels of personal care, but also afforded additional opportunities for socialisation and developing networks. It gives clients the opportunity to meet new people and develop new skills, while also receiving nursing care and other supports as required.
Short term accommodation also provides respite for family members or other people providing informal support for participants.
NDIS funding can also include provision for a support worker to accompany a participant on holiday, and we can assist you to devise an itinerary and find appropriate holiday accommodation that will enable all your needs to be met.
