Amongst the range of in home care Brisbane services we provide is support to help people with a disability or a permanent medical condition to transition into work, and then partner with them to ensure that they are able to retain a job.

We work alongside you at every stage of the process to get you on the path to work. This includes assisting you to apply for jobs and then, once you are successful in securing a position, providing the support required to be fulfil your workplace demands.

Benefits of Assist access / maintain employee

NDIS participants will often require different levels of support to be able to access the job market, transition into the workforce, and then remain in a viable job. Our support workers are able to provide assistance in all of these areas, and are always on hand to provide advice and guidance at every stage of the process.

To begin with, Memba Care will assist you to decide on your employment goals, and how these might be related to your NDIS development goals as well. From here, we will then begin the job search, utilising the many contacts we have been able to build up in a range of ADE and other sectors to find suitable positions which might meet your needs and capabilities.

If required, we can then assist you in the preparation of a CV and any accompanying documentation required, as well as advise you on the completion of an application form or letter.

Support to maintain employment

Support can also continue to be provided to participants once they have got a job and started working, in order to help them to remain in employment. This incudes support for both employees and employers, and can be provided in the workplace and elsewhere.

We can, for instance, assist you to build and develop a range of essential skills, along with helping to overcome employment barriers that may be specific to you. We can also help you when it comes to any job customisations that might be required.

This also incudes supporting participants who need assistance in managing workplace behaviours, or communicating with employers and other workers. We can also help with maintaining personal care at work.

Overall, our aim is always to ensure that you have all the training, on-the-job support, and a physical environment that enables you to perform all of the tasks required of your work with confidence and to the best of your ability.

Greater independence and self-confidence

This form of support is so valuable because of the way in which it assists people with a disability or permanent medical condition to live a more independent life. Employment also contributes to an individual’s confidence and self-esteem, and helps NDIS participants to work towards their individual development goals.

Re-entering the workforce, or going into employment for the first time can, however, be daunting. Our caring and experienced support workers understand the need for personalised help and advice tailored to your specific circumstances and needs, and are always available to provide support both in and outside the workplace to ensure you are able to maintain employment, and that the conditions in which you work are suitable and appropriate for your needs.

If appropriate, we can also support participants to move from an Australian Disability Enterprise (ADE) into another mainstream workplace.
