Memba Care can provide a range of short-term accommodation (STA) and holiday accommodation options designed to support NDIS participants in a friendly, caring and inclusive home environment for limited periods of time. This also enables carers to enjoy some respite, secure in the knowledge that loved ones are being supported and cared for to the highest possible standards.

STA can be provided in a centre or a group residence, where participants are provided with comprehensive personal care, and any additional support services required by the STA funding provisions in your NDIS plan.

Benefits of short term and holiday accommodation

Short term accommodation, including respite, is designed to supports NDIS participants to live out of home for a short period of time (up to 28 days per year). There are a variety of positive reasons as to why STA might be needed, and participants can take advantage of the time to try new activities they might not normally have access to, learn new skills, and develop new social connections.

It can also provide a break for the people who regularly provide informal supports, which can over time help you to remain at home and/or maintain your current living arrangements for longer.

As we are in home care Brisbane specialists, our qualified support workers provide the highest levels of personal care at all times during your stay in STA, including nursing services, manual handling and administering medication, if required.

Short term accommodation funding

Short term accommodation funding that is included as part of your NDIS plan (or if you choose to allocate some of your Core Budget to STA), can be used to provide support when a participant needs to live away from home for a limited period of time for any reason, or to provide respite for carers.

STA funding covers accommodation, personal care, food and meal preparation, as well as any activities that are decided upon as part of a service agreement. You have flexibility as to how you allocate your STA funding, e.g., you may be want to use it in two blocks of 14 days, or a weekend every month, rather than in a single block.

There is, however, more to STA than just accommodation. We provide support services in a friendly, inclusive setting that is designed to help you pursue your individual development goals, enhance skills to help you to maintain functional capacity, and support you to live independently as far as possible.

However, throughout your stay in short term accommodation, your privacy and autonomy is respected at all times.

NDIS respite and holiday accommodation

Depending on the individual development goals set our in your NDIS plan, it can be possible for your funding to be used to contribute to holidays, travel or respite care. For instance, funds can be used to pay for a support worker to accompany you on holiday, the hire of specialist equipment to assist you with mobility (e.g., a hoist), or transport expenses that are incurred specifically as a result of your disability (rather than general travel expenses).

Whether you require short term respite or holiday accommodation, we can provide a range of options to suit your goals and requirements. Whether you have very high support needs and your informal carer is in need of a break, you want to have an opportunity to build your independence, or you have low level needs and want to participate in a residential camp, for instance, our team of NDIS support coordinators and plan managers can find a solution to meet your accommodation care and support needs.
